Dear Authors!

Alkalmazott Nyelvészeti Közlemények invites papers in applied linguistics, general linguistics and related fields. Reviews of recently published monographs and reports on domestic and foreign conferences are also welcome.
 
Authors are asked to comply with the following formal requirements:
 

General instructions

  1. Submissions will normally be between 10-12 pages (25,000- 30,000 characters).
  2. Reviews will normally be between 2-3 pages (short review), or 5-7 pages (long review).
  3. Conference proceedings will have a minimum length of 2-3 pages and a maximum of 5-7 pages.
  4. Abstracts and keywords are required both in Hungarian and English.
  5. The title of the paper should be given also both in Hungarian and English.
  6. Papers should be divided into subchapters.
  7. Data on authors should be included at the end of the article (name, workplace, address, contact details).
  8. Articles are read by two reviewers, and if necessary, will be sent back to the authors for reconsideration or correction. 

 

Formal requirements

  • The title should be given in both languages in Times New Roman 12.
  • The main part of the article should be written in Times New Roman 10, with single line spacing and justification.
  • Subchapters are usually numbered to three levels: first level (1.) bold type, second level (1.1) subheadings are bold italics, third level (1.1.1) subheadings are italicized,  in Times New Roman 10.
  • Paragraphs should not be indicated with line feed, but 0.5 cm indentation.
  • Highlighting of important terms can be made in bold type.
  • Examples used in the text should be printed in italics.
  • Highlighting within examples: italics and bold type.
  • Separate language examples used in the study should be numbered continuously in rounded brackets, and reference should be made to their sources.
  • Quotations longer than 40 words should be separated from the main text and indented on both sides.
  • Each figure and table should be numbered and titled. For figures, numbers and titles should appear below the figures, for tables, above them.
  • Separate lists and numbered examples from the main text with empty lines before and after them.

 

References

  • Format: surname of the author in small caps (space), year of publication (szabó 2001), in case of quotations: surname of the author in small caps (space), year of publication (colon, space), page number(s) (Szabó 2001: 73–74).  Page numbers should not be included for online sources (Szabó 2001).
  • Title of the section for references is References.
  • Each source cited in the paper is to be included in References and vice versa: in References, only actually cited sources should be included.
  • References should contain detailed bibliographic data: surname of author, first name of author (in case of foreign authors, the surname and first name divided with comma), year of publication, title (italics) and place of publication (city, publisher).
  • In case of Hungarian authors: Buda Béla 1986. A közvetlen emberi kommunikáció szabályszerűségei. Budapest: Animula.
  • In case of foreign authors: Tarone, Elaine–Yule, George 1996. Focus on the Language Learner. Oxford: Oxford University Press.
  • In case of collections of papers, having editors, the title of the book should be italicised. (before: In:). The editions and name of editors should be included with the note (ed./eds.).  (Dér Csilla–Markó Alexandra 2007. A magyar diskurzusjelölők szupraszegmentális jelöltsége. In: Gecső Tamás–Sárdi Csilla (szerk.) Nyelvelmélet – Nyelvhasználat. Segédkönyvek a nyelvészet tanulmányozásához. 74. Székesfehérvár: Kodolányi János Főiskola, Budapest: Tinta Könyvkiadó.)
  • In case of articles, the title of the publication should be in italics, and the title is followed by the volume and page numbers. e.g.: Magyar Nyelv. 124. évf. 424–430. Between page numbers, hyphens should be used. Here „In:…” should not be used.
  • Date of retrieval should be included for online sources: eg. Jászberényi József (2008): Az „öregek” nem is léteznek? Médiakutató, 2008 ősz. www.mediakutato.hu/ cikk/2008_03_osz/03_oreg_idos_reklam www.mediakutato.hu/cikk/2008_03_osz/03_oreg_idos_ reklam (Letöltve: 2014.11.16.)
  • Authors should be listed in alphabetical order.
  • Our authors are asked to give the sources of language examples in a list separate from References.
